Christopher Ward and Morgan Motor Company presents a new stunning watch


With the partnership between Christopher Ward and Morgan Motor Company going from strength to strength, this March the two brands have introduced the C1 Morgan Plus 8 Chronometer, a special Limited Edition watch of 50 pieces. The new timepiece will be sold exclusively with the anniversary Morgan Plus 8 cars, the dashboard dials of which have been have also been designed by Christopher Ward’s Head of Product, Adrian Buchmann in collaboration with Morgan’s Head of Design, Jon Wells.

The launch of the C1 Morgan Plus 8 Chronometer represents a significant move forward for the two brands and their partnership; with Adrian Buchmann assisting Jon Wells, on the design of the dashboard dial faces for the Plus 8 itself. Similarly, Jon worked closely with Adrian to design the watch, allowing both the watch and the car to take inspiration from each other.

First introduced at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1968, the Morgan Plus 8 has had a considerable impact on the motoring world. This year, to mark the iconic model’s 50th anniversary, 50 special Plus 8 roadsters will be hand-built built at Morgan’s Malvern factory.
This limited run will be the last that Morgan produce, as the 4.8-liter BMW engine that powers it is going out of production. Giving Morgan owners the opportunity to extend their experience beyond the pure driving pleasure of the Plus 8, the new C1 Morgan Plus 8 Chronometer anniversary watch will be sold exclusively with the eponymous car.

Reminiscent of the very first Morgan Plus 8, also known as ‘MMC 11’, the new Morgan Plus 8 cars will be available in a blue lacquered paint finish with yellow accents around the grille, bonnet, and rear towing eyes. Continuing to pay homage to ‘MMC 11’ the C1 Morgan Plus 8 Chronometer will contain a small piece of the celebrated ‘MMC 11’ car which will be embedded into the back plate of the watch.

The C1 Morgan Plus 8 is powered by Christopher Ward’s in-house movement, Calibre SH21. The dial features sub-seconds at 6 o’clock and a power reserve indicator monitoring the movement’s impressive 120-hour (5 day) power reserve. Each watch will be serial numbered 1-50 to match each of the 50th anniversary Plus 8 car models.
